Message from Principal Smith

Dear Parents,
Another school year has begun, and we have a couple of things that we need to address.

Our “Back to School” night is scheduled for Tuesday August 31, 2010, from 5:30 to 6:30. At 6:15 Mr. Smith will be giving a short welcome and presentation on the additions to the promotion plan. You will be able to meet some teachers and review your child’s daily schedule. We look forward to seeing you there.

All of the students have been given a Sage Valley Middle School (SVMS) lanyard. It is part of the school uniform and must be worn at all times on campus. We will be getting pictures on September 1st for the student’s permanent ID cards. At that time all ID cards need to be worn on the lanyard for identification. Please make sure that your student understands this and wears it everyday. The students use their ID cards in the Library, at lunch as well as for identification. If a student loses or breaks a lanyard there will be a replacement cost of $3.00. Only SVMS lanyards are allowed.

We will have picture day on September 1st. Lots of parents call and want to know if their children can dress in appropriate non-uniform clothes. This is the compromise that we have come up with. Any student may bring a “top” to change into for pictures. They may not bring an entire outfit since it is not a full body picture. Please remember “Top” only. We appreciate your cooperation with this. It will make the whole picture process faster.

We look forward to getting to know you and your students. If at any time you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.

Thank you,

Sean Smith

 Check out Staff Marshmallow Challenge

.

Staff had limited spaghetti noodles, tape, string, and 1 marshmallow. Following the Agreements the teams had to work cooperatively to build the tallest structure that could hold up the marshmallow. VERY CHALLENGING!
